With school starting much earlier, extra curricular activities in full swing, as well as cooler temperatures (except this week!!), attendance at the pool has been sparse. As the summer is winding down and with school beginning this Thursday), our pool hours will need to be adjusted. Sniff, sniff!
Beginning Thursday, August 1st, the new pool hours will be from 11 AM – 8 PM. This will stay constant through Labor Day. We will continue with the adult lap swimming on Tuesday and Thursday evenings but the new time will be from 7:45-8:15pm.
As always, until the temperature reaches 70, the pool doesn’t open! You may have noticed that the last few mornings the pool didn’t open at 10 for that very reason!
Beginning this Tuesday, July 9th, our neighborhood pool will be offering Adult only lap swimming from 8:45pm to 9:15pm. There will be a guard on duty, however, the guard will be performing closing duties during this time. Please note that no children will be allowed in the pool area during lap swimming. This will also be offered on Thursday evenings at the same time!
Now that we’re finally settling into summer, I wanted to go over a few things the staff and I have been noticing at the pool.
If you refer to your directory that was printed out in 2012, there is a pool rules section and #17 stipulates that at the lifeguard’s request, your youngster may be asked to show proficiency in the deep end by swimming a lap and a half without any floatation devices to remain in the deep end of the pool. It is for the safety of your child that we plan to enforce this when needed.
Something else that has been noted is that non-swimming children have been alone or unsupervised in the deep end with flotation devices. This will no longer be permitted unless an adult is in the water and with the child. Again, the safety of all children is important to all of us.
Our neighborhood community is fortunate that we have trained lifeguards on duty. However, with the days warming up and the sun brightly shining, the pool is clearly filled with quite a few kiddos and the lifeguards have to be on high alert their entire shift. While this is what we pay them to do, please continue to do your part in supervising your kids while they are in the pool and/or pool deck.
It’s been a great start to the summer! If you haven’t been over to see our newly renovated commons area yet, we welcome you to come check it out and take a dip in the pool!
